My journey with CrossFit began in 2011 at the age of 40. I have been a firefighter/Paramedic for 23 years. In 2007 I had a medical procedure after which I became overweight, eventually reaching a weight of 308#. A friend/co-worker was getting his master’s degree in exercise physiology. His thesis was on firefighter fitness. This was my chance to get back in shape. I took the challenge and once the weight started coming off I was hooked. I began CrossFit style workouts and in one year lost 100#.
In 2013, I trained for and competed in my first Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge. ESPN has dubbed it the “toughest two minutes in sports”. This awakened a need to train harder, compete and train others to achieve success. I received my CF-L1 in March of 2014, CrossFit Mobility in August 2014 and CrossFit Power Lifting in May 2015. I have been coaching CrossFit ever since.
In addition to Coaching CrossFit, I am a Career Deputy Chief with the Wayne Township Fire Department in Clermont County. I am also the Program Director for our Fire/EMS Training Academy which teaches initial certification classes to new firefighter and EMTs. I am happily married and have 5 children.
